I’m glad SOMEONE in the News media FINALLY did a story touching on this disturbing law enforcement policy in California (spreading to the rest of America). It appeared on News Hour on PBS (2-15-10), segment by Judy Woodruff…

A bit of factual history so Americans don’t make the same MISTAKES of the past

If our economy is failing it’s because of low grade thought processes involved with long range fiscal planning of the Republican Party since 1981... NOT ONE OF THEM WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOW!

Republicans believe Corporations have a right to do as they please. Most card carrying conservatives are so ignorant they don’t even know their own ideological CREDO. “Limited intervention in the economy. Substantial intervention in morality”. This means let the RICH/POWERFUL do whatever they please while finger pointing and preaching to the average Joe and Jane Schmuck.

Reagan/Bush killed ANTI-TRUST and any regulation that kept industry HONEST. When Reagan/Bush came to power, the USA was #1 on the planet in exporting goods and importing raw materials. This is the very definition of a prosperous economy. In 2009, it is the exact opposite. Why? Years of Republicans selling out the American middle class, that’s why. Oh and let’s not forget Reagan union busting and DEREGULATION. The root of ALL future Corporate scandal.

A long list of legislation starting with “fiscal conservatism” and “trickle down economics” led to the decline in federal aid to local governments from $64 per resident in 1980 to $29 in 1992. To REPLACE the lost funding, a mandate for LAW ENFORCEMENT and Criminal Justice (sic) System to generate revenue for itself, State and local governments. PROFIT margins created a government VS. the PEOPLE mentality.

NOTE: (Sunday, April 16, 2000 Press-Enterprise B-1 article titled “San Bernardino County leads nation in forfeitures” WHAT? Joseph D. Mcnamara, a research fellow at Stanford University and former police chief in San Jose, said: “I think in general it’s a BAD MISTAKE to have the police interested in anything other than the pursuit of justice”

In other words… Because it’s become political suicide to raise taxes… The RICH haven’t pulled their weight since the Bush Tax cuts were legislated so the BURDEN of keeping local governments afloat has been shifted on the backs of the POOR…

Add the special interest pandering which further separated the PEOPLE from “LIFE, LIBERTY, HAPPINESS, EQUAL RIGHTS and JUSTICE”. As a mater of fact JUSTICE became a commodity bought and sold by the wealthy, powerful and well-connected.

NOTE: (Robert Ito in Los Angeles Magazine writes: “…YES, the $40 BILLION dollar private prison business is recession proof. The Corrections Corporation of America controlled 52% of the domestic market. Net income grew 75% in 1997, it’s stock doubled…” YEA! Ask Bob Barker about investing in the jail/prison industry. Bob Barker plastic soap dishes, jail shoes… and how can one strip down, bend over and COUGH without thinking of Bob Barker latex examination glovers?)

You COWARD m’#*~/ers ignore me NOW and I’m going to drop my non-confrontational stance on PROTEST and help ORGANIZE a revolution against a corrupt U.S. government and it’s law enforcement agents.

NOTE: I find it VERY disturbing all this seizing (hidden tax) on the 40 million Americans struggling below the poverty level is to keep the aristocrats in the extravagant lifestyle they’ve grown accustomed to. Not to mention how government workers and elected officials (public sector) have the kind of JOB/PENSION/HEALTH CARE SECURITY the average taxpayer (private sector) could only HOPE for or dream about. (pursuit of HAPPINESS)

If I was a bitter Conservative WASP, we'd be hearing "Ohhh, but now that it’s hurting the poor illegal immigrants, NOW it’s a big story…?" But the point here really IS: It's NOT about race or creed, it's the HAVES vs the HAVE-NOTS!

I guess when a middle-aged White guy (who's an AMERICAN CITIZEN and PROTECTED by the CONSTITUTION) gets VIOLATED by the system, over and OVER, IT’S NO BIG DEAL, right? Minorities should take special notice… IF IT CAN HAPPEN TO ME, IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANY AMERICAN!

Have I got a story for YOU!

I came to California in late 1997 to be close to my two children. After a terrible, gut-wrenching separation from their mother, I sacrificed my own life in Western NY to come to CA to try and be a good father to my kids. But noooooo, the police state of Southern California was going to use all it’s power and taxpayers wealth to ruin my plan and make life into a living, breathing HELL! My first night in CA I got a parking ticket in front of my brother-in-laws house (Covina) and IT WAS ALL DOWNHILL FROM THERE!

Not only did my government NOT help me but the damn self-serving ****’s actually HINDERED my progress. Over the next few years I was fined, penalized, searched, seized, followed (surveillance), harassed, abused, towed, impounded, code enforced, charged, wrongfully jailed and TORTURED!

DA’s threaten outrageous sentences if anyone commits the sin of taking a case to trial. Most inmates are so scared they take a guilty plea even if they are innocent. Public Defenders try seek justice but are understaffed and overwhelmed. 

NOTE: (My anger has grown since then because of all the waste, fraud, abuse, scandal, incompetence, corruption, reckless economics, war profiteering and Constitutional violations of Bush/Cheney and the Republican controlled Congress (1994-2006) a Corporate Crime Wave of EPIC proportions but law enforcement focuses on little guy?
EXAMPLE: Halliburton escaping prosecution by moving to Dubai. These people committed some of the worst crime in world history and YET they remain unpunished. The California city, county, state government and their law enforcement agents RUINED MY LIFE… for WHAT? Because I didn’t have a CA valid drivers license???)

Picture this: There I was struggling to make a life in So. Cal. Life was hard enough, looking for work, hungry all the time, staying in cheap motels and sleeping in my car, etc… I don’t feel local law enforcement were living up to their “protect and serve” motto.

I got really sick, so I got permission to park in a church parking lot in Pomona. Pomona PD towed and impounded my vehicle and most of my tools and possessions. (1982 Stanza - license # IEYH833)

The tow yard owners were former cops and laughed as I told them my sad story, begging to get my car and possessions back. At the desk at Pomona PD headquarters the cop told me to “just go away, scumbag” . I guess they thought I was just ANOTHER one of the 100’s of homeless people that exist on the streets of that area. Little did they know I was TAKING NOTES!

I took what I could carry out of the impounded car and walked the streets trying to figure out what to do next… I slept underneath a church stairway for a few nights until I learned from the local homeless dregs (lol) how to survive these mean streets.

Eventually I found my way to the ONLY option I had open for me. I bought (IOU promise) our Suburban back from my kids mother in Colton, drove half a block from her place and was pulled over by a San Bernardino Co. Sheriff Deputy.

I tried to explain why the plates were expired: “I just bought it back from my kids mother, look from right over there” I was pointing across the field at her place BEGGING him to let me park in her garage.
“Sorry sir I’m only doing my job”, the #$*&*!~ tells me while calling the tow truck. (1985 Chevy Suburban - license #057CBK Florida plates) This was JUST 3 WEEKS AFTER THEY STOLE MY LAST VEHICLE!

The m#*~/’s didn’t even stick to their 30 day impound rule, some cop was using my truck to tow his boat before I could pay the OUTRAGEOUS tow costs/storage fees to get it back.

(Oh, by the way, did you know most tow/impound companies in So. Cal. Are owned by former cops? Someone should find out why there’s so MANY millionaire Sheriffs and Chiefs of PD’s, made RICH by seized assets. THAT would be a interesting NEWS story, right?)

Now I know you heartless basterds out there are thinking I was irresponsible for not having a valid CA drivers license. I DID have a valid NY Commercial (class A) Drivers License (it cost me $4000 in school/testing costs) but it didn’t matter to the CA police state. Their only concern was to get the PEOPLE off the road and strong-arm me for any valuables.

The whole hellish process reminded me of something… I couldn’t put my finger on it right away but then IT HIT ME! This is how ORGANIZED CRIME in NY works…

I tried to get a CA drivers license but they kept giving me tickets I couldn’t afford. When I didn’t pay up, they decided it was time to punish me and SUSPEND my driving privileges. (a privilege my @$$, have you ever tried to get around So. Cal. WITHOUT a vehicle?) When THAT didn’t break me, THEN THEY PUT ME IN JAIL.

NOTE: (LA County Jail made Abu Ghraib seem like a day at the park. The inmates call it the Twin Towers of living, breathing HELL! San Bernardino Co. Jail wasn’t so bad. The guys transferred from other facilities call it Club Med. Jail/Prison vendors are making a fortune off the inmates there. As a matter of fact, I purchased a souvenir “Hard Times - between a rock and a hard place” mug from the commissary, before my release...

Now I was back walking the streets. I experienced the kind of suffering and degradation that would have broke most men. But I’m a fighter, I NEVER GIVE UP! I was sick of being hungry all the time. I did whatever it took to have money in my pocket and a roof over my head. This was new to me, I was never poor or homeless before, so I talked to those who knew how to survive the streets. I got plain mad-dog mean…

I was hearing stories from all the poor and homeless that exist in the ugly underbelly of Southern California. About how law enforcement treats the poor on the streets and in jail. Horror stories that were unimaginable to me. Being a writer/researcher I wanted to see for myself. I wanted to FIGHT BACK!

In late 1998 I joined a group of San Bernardino activists... Then in early 1999, a group of Riverside activists, a group of Claremont activists, and a group of LA activists… Everyone working hard to DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY! Once the protest movement grew beyond 2000 people, the violations of the Constitution started. Why is it leaders in the USA hate when the PEOPLE achieve any sort of power?

After months of protest rallies in front of City halls, police stations, DA/County buildings, and Sheriff departments the term routine traffic stop took on a whole new meaning. Over 20 times driving myself or with other activists… 3 times just walking down the street from my house.

LATER, I was charged with some petty crime. A malicious, vindictive prosecution where I was sentenced to 75 days in Riverside County jail for going to a protest march. (DA Grover Trask)

During my pre-trial hearing I spoke out AGAINST this warped practice of prosecution/seizure, LOW GRADE THOUGHT PROCESSES of the police state, the district attorney, judge, State leaders and the Justice Dept. I let it be known I was going to the 2000 Democratic National Convention (in Los Angeles) to organize “outsiders”…

A few days before the Convention started a “special unit” of the San Bernardino sheriff’s dept. showed up at my house, guns drawn, IN FRONT OF MY CHILDREN and hauled me away. The officer in charge told me “…you must have pissed off the wrong person because we NEVER DO THIS KIND OF THING”. I was held for 8 days WITHOUT CHARGES… I know, I KNOW... it was just a coincidence I was released the moment the convention ended.

Even worse, while in custody, my kids mother took my children away saying I was making them into targets. And just to make my life a bit more miserable, one San Bernardino deputy decided to get my rap sheet and show it to my girlfriend so he could #*~/ her. Even though it’s AGAINST THE LAW and I contacted their Internal Affairs Department, the officer was never punished…

Now… my rap sheet is full of misdemeanors, but it doesn’t tell the WHOLE STORY! It doesn’t say I was convicted for going to a protest march. (search: Tyisha Miller, Irvin Landrum Jr.)

My story for 1998-2002 was exploration and discovery steeped in suffering and degradation. The kind of sad story that MAKE authors famous but I couldn’t even get a letter to the editor published.

NOTE: (Dostoyevsky once said “suffering and degradation are the only way to achieve the CONSCIOUSNESS”)

I’ve been writing about this travesty and phenomena ever since and trying to put into context with the economic meltdown.

The CA police state is STILL harassing me and making my life HELL. Get THIS… after ruining me and making it almost impossible to make a life for my kids… They’re dirty ’#*~/ers are low, very loooowwwwww...
